Farah Qureshi

Introduction and inspiration

I am a designer maker and love to make jewellery. I specialise in creating ethical and sustainable collections. I also work on creative commissions too and work with precious materials. These include silver, gold and platinum. I have a Fairtrade gold licence and all the pieces are stamped with a special hallmark, when made in this material.

So, I have always had an interest in art for as long as I can remember. I developed a keen interest in jewellery after completing a short jewellery course in my late teens.   Working with jewellery opened up a whole new and exciting world. A world filled with new processes, techniques and terminology. The idea of designing and creating items, that you can wear had great appeal. Jewellery can really make you feel good. It adds a focal point to an outfit and a talking point too. Jewellery accessories add glamour and are an amazing finishing touch.

“Her work celebrates the finer things in life and seeks them out. Everyone needs a special piece of jewellery just for them….”

The inspiration behind the jewellery comes from a myriad of sources.  These include botany under the microscope, travels to different places in the UK and further afield.  Found objects in the home and more.  Life is an inspiration.

“Farah Qureshi is a jewellery brand based in London and sells her jewellery worldwide. The key pieces are inspired by Botany and the designers love of travel.  Inspiration comes from places such as Kew gardens, through to the Australian outback.”

Ethics and sustainability are essential to the business. Using recycled materials helps the planet and by using Fairtrade gold, the communities around the mines benefit. The communities have greater standards of living.  There is also greater health and safety for the miners.

The jewellery collections I design and make wearable collections that are modern and pared down.  They have an air of simplicity. The jewellery made is great for every day and the pieces are versatile.  You can mix and match the jewellery, with other pieces for a more eclectic look.

There are hidden treasures to be found everywhere; you just need the time to discover them

Beautiful combinations of gem stones are often incorporated into the pieces of jewellery.  For those who enjoy wearing a splash of colour. Pink tourmalines are combined with a sprinkling of black diamonds.  Aquamarines are matched with patterns of white diamonds, along with many other variations.

All of the items shown on the website can be personalised with engraving, different coloured metals and  different gemstones can also be used.

The precious jewellery that is created can be passed down the generations. The pieces can be considered to be modern heirlooms.”
